Education
The Weddell Sea Expedition 2019 will inspire young people about science, engineering and technology, as well as the protection of Antarctica. The mission of the Scott Polar Research Institute, which is a centre of excellence in the study of the polar regions, is to enhance the understanding about these areas through scholarly research and publication, educating new generations of researchers and caring for and making accessible its collections.
In addition, the Weddell Sea Expedition 2019 is working in partnership with the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) to ensure that the expedition’s research and findings are shared as widely as possible to schools and students around the world. The RGS is the UK’s learned society and professional body for geographers, supporting geographical research, education, fieldwork and expeditions.
